Stay Abreast of the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election at a Glance
Presidential campaigns are a constantly evolving web of associations, alliances, influencers and experts. They span multiple roles, multiple campaigns, multiple presidential administrations and multiple generations. In an effort to help our clients navigate the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, Qorvis MSLGROUP has created the Presidential Influencer Map to visualize the relationships of key influencers within the major candidates for President of the United States.
Visualize the Network
Click on the tab featuring an image of a Gear in the upper right hand corner. A tool bar panel will appear along the top of the Influencer Map. This tool bar allows you to adjust the size of the Influencer Map. The sliding bar labeled “Adjust Charge” will change the size of the Influencer Map. Sliding the bar to the left makes the Influencer Map larger, sliding it to the right makes it more compact. The sliding bar labeled “Adjust Label Size” will change the font size of the persons and organizations labeled on the Influencer Map. Sliding the bar to the left makes the labels smaller, sliding it to the right makes the labels larger.
Make Connections At A Glance
The Influencer Map is Color Coded by primary role linking the person or organization to the candidate. Click on the “Legend” Tab in the upper right hand corner. A drop down menu of the colors associated with each key role will be listed.
You can also isolate group associations within the Influencer Map to view everyone in a particular role in the campaign, or everyone belonging to a particular group. Click on the tab featuring an image of a Gear in the upper right hand corner. A tool bar panel will appear along the top of the Influencer Map. The panel has two options – “Show Node Type” and “Show Role Type.” The default setting on the Influencer Map is to show all roles and all nodes in the campaign. As you select a Node or Role by clicking it from gray to white, all other relationships disappear from the Influencer Map, leaving behind the relationship network you have selected.
For example, to see everyone in the Inner Circle of the campaign, click to on Node Type and select the one labeled “Inner Circle.” To see everyone advising the campaign in a foreign policy role, click on Role Type and select the one labeled “Foreign Policy.” The connections will soon become clear.
Drag and Drop to Highlight Sections of the Network
Each node on the network can move independently around the Influencer Map. Just click and drag the node to another spot on the Influencer Map and drop it in the desired location. The node will move to the corresponding place, while maintaining all of its links and connections. This feature is especially useful to isolate a person or organization in the densely populated center of the Influencer Map, by dragging it to the edge of the map.
Learn About the Participants
Click on the “Info Panel” Tab in the upper right hand corner. A panel will appear along the right hand side of the Influencer Map. This panel will feature images and biographical information about the person or organization currently highlighted on the Influencer Map. As you click from node to node, new information will appear in the Info Panel.
